The Play That Goes Wrong is a comedy that continues to perform around the world. It won last year’s Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, and continues to entertain viewers at the West End’s Duchess Theatre.

The comedy itself is about an amateur university production that goes wrong. Full of hilarity and mischief, the comedy looks at a drama society that tries to put on a 1920s murder mystery. Unfortunately for the drama society, everything that could possibly go wrong does.

The play first began in 2015 in London. It’s received celebrity endorsements from Joanna Lumley and others. Today, the comedy is now showing on Broadway in the United States starting in Spring 2017.

“The London run of The Play That Goes Wrong” has played to 100 percent capacity since the beginning of December—quite incredible really how it has built based on word of mouth,” said Kevin McCollum, the Broadway producer behind Rent, in an interview with Playbill.

The new Broadway incarnation of the comedy will open in April and will star the original West End cast, which includes co-writers Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields. Mark Bell will act as director. The comedy will also be produced by J.J. Abrams along with Kevin McCollum and London producer Kenny Wax.

The play is scheduled to begin previews on March 9 ahead of its April 2 opening at the Lyceum.
