A Bronx Tale on Broadway Tickets

A Bronx Tale, which tells the story of a boy growing up in New York who witnesses a killing and is torn between loyalty to his father and a crime boss, will make its Broadway debut this fall. The play, which was written by Chazz Palminteri, is largely autobiographical. Palminteri witnessed a killing when he was a boy.

Performances will begin at the Longacre Theatre on November 3. The official opening will be on December 1. Two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro will co-direct the Broadway show with four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks.

The play will feature doo-wop music composed by Tony winner Alan Menken, lyrics written by Glenn Slater, and choreography by Sergio Trujillo. Palminteri wrote the book for the new musical. It will be co-produced by music industry executive Tommy Mottola along with the Dodgers and TriBeCa Productions. The creative team is currently working on making changes based on lessons they learned from an off-Broadway production at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey.

Palminteri originally wrote a one-man play that was performed off-Broadway in 1989. De Niro co-starred in a film version with Palminteri in 1993 and also directed it. Palminteri performed his one-man show on Broadway in 2007 and 2008.
